The time of our lives DVD

Bowler Dessert's first DVD celebrates some classic events and places in the company of the Sons of the Desert.

International Convention 1984 (13 minutes)

Twenty years ago (in August 1984) the Sons of the Desert came to Ulverston for their 4th International Convention. This super 8 home movie in colour was partially decomposing and has been rescued, transferred to DVD and released for distribution to Sons for the very first time.

Enjoy the parade in Ulverston, Leslie Halliwell's salutation, Jack Haslam's moving tribute during the premiere of the Stan and Ollie musical, Jimmy Murphy (Stan Laurel's valet) posing for photographs, Rosina Lawrence and Henry Brandon joining in the fun, Peter Wood and Howard Byron (and others) impersonating Stan and Ollie, pee wee, golf, brass bands, pipers, the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway and boating on Lake Windermere.

This condensation is dedicated to Bill Cubin, who organised the event.

European Convention 2003 (4 minutes)

This slide show has glimpses of some perfect moments from the 6th European Convention thanks to the Perfect Day Tent's conclave in Avi Fauna in Holland in June 2003. The convention embraced all aspects of Laurel and Hardy celebration.

Panopticon 2004 (13 minutes)

The Britannia Panopticon Music Hall in Glasgow, where Stan Laurel made his professional stage début in 1906, is being restored. The background, the present and the future are featured in a potted, exclusive tour of this Victorian music hall. You will also learn about Stan's childhood and the Dan Leno connection.
