Big charity 10k!

Sailors Beware, Oasis #262 based in Hyde, are celebrating nearing £10,000 raised in the ten years the club has been going. Sailors Beware meet to watch classic films of the comedy duo and have a great laugh in the company of fellow fans, always a great night to relieve the stresses of modern life. The latest donation was made to Rethink Mental Illness after member Jonathan Hayward ran the Manchester 10k to raise money and awareness of the charity.

Grand Sheikh Graeme Green said, "We are delighted to support a fellow fan and member raise money for a very worthwhile cause. Laurel and Hardy slapstick comedy is universal and laughter is the best medicine. We welcome everyone to join us on the last Thursday of the month." The club meet at the Cheshire Ring in Hyde (opposite Aldi).

New book

I'm a long-time film lover and collector and have been crazy about Laurel and Hardy's films since I was a child. My new book on the Boys has just been published. I'd really appreciate it if you'd let your tent's members know about this new publication.

Good news on Keith

Gerry Dunne has some great news about Keith Davidson, former Grand Sheik of the (now closed) Another Fine Mess Tent of Belfast...

Just to let you know that Keith underwent a kidney transplant operation on Saturday and all is going well so far. He will be in hospital for a while and visiting is extremely restricted at the moment as you can guess - and I have a great big bag of hard-boiled eggs and nuts ready for him when I see him next!

I know you will all be thinking about him and wishing him all the best. With any luck this will make his life so much better than it has been for a long time now.

The Bonnie Scotland Tent had a stall at the Sam' Shot Day in Paisley on 1st July.

In addition to the tent's monthly meetings in Paisley, summer days out planned are for a trip on the Waverley paddle steamer, a visit to the Hats Off to Laurel and Hardy play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a day out in Glasgow.

Mistitled poster

Here is something interesting that I came across while looking for something else: a mistitled L&H poster. The photo is obviously from "Swiss Miss", but it is labelled "Pack Up Your Troubles":
